Problems faced by students

GCE ‘O’ Level Pure Chemistry (5073) syllabus is now designed to place less emphasis on factual materials and greater emphasis on the understanding and application of relevant scientific concepts and principles.

Many students experience difficulty applying the chemistry knowledge learnt in school to questions in examinations involving new novel situations outside textbook context.

Furthermore, many students who rely on pure memorizing to score and have a poor grasp of the Chemistry concepts, they would find difficulty answering the structured and long questions in Paper 2 which carry the majority of the marks in the exam.
